I was camped on the beach in front of stacks of Dyrholaey in Iceland, waiting the passage of a storm with winds at 120 km / h. Suddenly the rain stopped and in a strange light gray, the rocks appeared to me in all their beauty emerging from the stormy sea. Immediately prepared the equipment, but the strong wind moving my camera on the tripod, only with the help of 2 friends i was able to take some pictures, this is the best.
On a cold and windy morning in late October, in the Libyan desert, the sky was cloudy and the dunes had a special blue reflection, when suddenly the clouds on the horizon began to be torn letting a beautiful golden light, the contrast of colors was formidable

I had just finished to visit a paleosol, rich in historical remains, when by radio came the news that a car of the group was blocked by sand. Waiting for the car rescue, I discovered this strange and high dune of colored sand that had on the base this band of purple sand characterized by abundant veins of different sizes. I tried to compose the shot so that the asymmetry of the band of purple sand was balanced by an equal range of blue sky: this is the result
I arrived on the shores of Lake McDonald in the afternoon and walking on the rocky shore I chose this stretch to photograph the sunrise the next day. The next morning I returned to the shore, the air was still and so is the water that reflected perfectly the mountains behind which the sun was rising
Was a hot day, I had spent doing trekking in the park, I decided to go up to Delicate Arch for sunset watching. Once there, a beautiful golden light illuminated the great arch making it majestic.
The area that I had chosen to compose the image was made from the dry lakebed is seen in the background, the water was a perfect mirror and the warm light of dawn made the scene magic
I was traveling in the backcountry of Adrar Hanet, when at a small Erg I saw this 4 dune cordons overlapped, each with a different color: looked like a painting.
One hour after leaving a wonderful place, I came across this one, which if possible was even more fantastic, a climb of soft golden sand, was inserted between two rocky walls eroded by the elements, such as to seem built from stone blocks, at the top of the hill you could see some cylindrical towers and everything was topped by a sky of an amazing blue just how you can see in high mountains
During the night, a strong wind had incessantly shaken my RV parked on the beach of Jokulsarlon in Iceland. Before dawn, but without conviction I went outside to find some beautiful scenes to photograph. A band with no clouds on the horizon was promising, the dusk was dyed by a lovely shade of orange that beautifully contrasted with the black volcanic beach sand and the deep blue of small icebergs that had stranded them: there was an absolute peace.
I arrived at the waterfall Skogafoss in the early afternoon, the sun was high and the air clear, I looked for a good place to photograph this force of nature, I decided that in center of the stream with water flowing beneath the camera was perfect. I was driving on the track along the Dades valley in the late afternoon, when, after a curve I was struck by this wonderful landscape, in the total aridity of the High Atlas, the water and the work of man had created this miracle, a cultivated garden in the bottom of the valley flanked by small paths.
Here I was in the north of the Myrdalsjokull glacier in Iceland, during one of the rare sunny moments of that trip. A fantastic bed of silt shaped by the flow of the melting glacier, stretched at my feet. Its soft brown color, beautifully contrasted with the blue sky and the black mountains in the background. I remained a couple of hours to contemplate the landscape.
From Algeria to Mali I entered through the area called Adrar des Iforas. After 5 days in the desert, I came at last to the Niger River. The sight of this river that flows through the desert is beautiful, small villages where the economy is subsistence line the shores, the people are very friendly, but to be able to photograph this acacia on the shore, I worked a lot to move people who wanted to watch the shooting!
I had driven all day in the desert under a beautiful sun, trying to get the Indian Reserve where there is the Monument Valley to see the sunset set fire to the rocky pinnacles. Arrived a couple of hours before sunset, I walked looking for a good place to photograph and placed the camera on the tripod I composed the shot. At the time of sunset an incredible orange light ignited the pinnacles that were dominated by a dramatic sky
The area of Tin Merzouga south east of the oasis of Djanet, is famous for its red sand , the color is so intense that it seems fake, here I was struck by these five rocky cliffs that seem to listen to what is saying the bigger stack, which I nicknamed “the teacher”

During the night I slept in the car under a Baobab near the village of Sangha. In the morning just after sunrise I attended a performance of the past, a procession of women carrying 20 or 30 liters of water on the head, between the source and the fields of little onions, so they can irrigate it. Here you see a girl with a 20 liter bowl onto the path that leads to the source.
After another wonderful day of backcountry driving in the Hoggar, I decided to stop for the night in an area called Tiouardiouine Aguermane. This is a place slightly raised above the surrounding desert, where beautiful rock formations emerging from a sandy desert, the view is really great, but getting there is not so easy, the sand is very soft and the ATVs coverups are guaranteed. The next morning I decided to take some pictures of these two stacks emerging from a sandy basin, The light was wonderful and since that time that place is in my heart.
This photo was taken at dawn the second time that I returned to Asskrem. The temperature at the time of the photo was 8° Celsius below zero, the wind cold and penetrating, but as always father Zibi who lives here in meditation from many years, has given us a good hot tea and cookies.
The place where I had spent the night, was nothing special, but the lonely tuft of grass draws attention in this abstract world, where form and color penetrate each other in a magnificent way.
In the afternoon I was along a beautiful sandy valley of an ancient wadi, flanked by dark cliffs, at a point sand began to rise on the wall almost to get on top of it, the contrast between the golden sands, the black rock and the blue sky was breathtaking.
The day’s journey was over, I decided to make camp near this rocky tower, walking around I saw the footsteps of a fennec that intersected diagonally sandy ridges. The surface of the sand in the meantime had taken a beautiful orange hue so I decided to record the scene and soon after the sun went down over the horizon.

I arrived at Jokulsarlon lagoon in the late afternoon, it was fresh and some sea lions swimming in the lagoon among the icebergs. Came the sunset but the light was bad, after a while time the sun over the horizon lit up the clouds from below and the lagoon water turned red: it was the most beautiful twilight I have ever seen
Approaching the waterfall Dettifoss, the roar of the water grew more and more, a dense cloud of spray wet the surrounding area downwind, the show was great, the water power was impressive and in this photo I think you will be able to feel it
I was in Wonder Lake from 2 days and the next day the Denali National Park would have been closed for the winter, yet without being able to see Mount Denali. On the morning of the last day the clouds were gone, a cold sun shining on a field of blueberries and finally Mount Denali was visible in all its glory.

This area of Adrar Hanet is very special, because we understand how they were formed sand dunes in this area, because beside mountains of black rock there are stunning dunes with the crests of black sand, as well as mountains partially covered up by sand
On the way back to Tunisia, I knew that one unexplored confluence was present near the Trans-Sahara Road, so I decided to go and see it: the show was great, a soft honey-colored sand, animated by endless undulations extended to the horizon was dominated by a dark blue sky

I was exploring the Libyan Akakus, which I found extraordinarily green because of the rains of some weeks ago.
