In October of 2005, with some friends I was crossing the Libyc desert called Murzuq, the dunes were magnificent, and that morning the sky was clear. From the crest of a dune choice the previous afternoon, I waited for the sunrise, until the sand was painted in a wonderful orange, highlighting this particular profile that I photographed.
You know the symbol of the yin and the yang? Well, that afternoon I found it perfectly designed by nature on this beautiful orange dune!
This photo was taken in a very special place, I was on top of the volcano Waw an Namus in Libya, within the crater in addition to several lakes, there are some areas of white sand with volcanic lapilli above, that having a weight lower floaton the sand, the wind divides the sands of different weight and color forming these incredible landscapes that looks like the rapids of a raging torrent
In life it takes luck, that day I wanted to go to the Exit Glacier, but I remained 2 hours to photograph a small spring, returning to the car I came upon a stream that had recently dried up leaving the bottom of beautiful bronze metallic mud, the reflections was wonderful and this aspen leaf in autumn dress created an interesting contrast, I remained another hour to photograph this scene
I was going through a lava field in the center of Iceland, when I found this tiny clump flowered near the end of a very particular form lava flow , I immediately had the impression it was a tribute to the life that was reborn after the volcanic eruption
This site place between two sandy ridges impressed me, thanks to the large difference in size and distance of the black dunes, there seemed to be an invisible filter that separated the two types of dunes ……
I am always fascinated by the softness and the forms taken by the dunes in sandy deserts, the magical morning light creates a beautiful contrast in this small dune, on one side fire the smooth sand upwind, on the other hand emphasizes the roughness of the leeward side
I was driving close to home, when in the garden of a house I saw a dozen trees Gingko Biloba that having lost all its leaves had formed at their base a soft yellow colored carpet, stopped the car I asked the owner for permission to photograph and this is the shot that I prefer
I was looking for a good place to spend the night among the pinnacles of Hoggar in Algeria, when I was fascinated by the beautiful shadow arch, created by the golden light of the afternoon on the edge of a small sandy basin; in the background you can see the small footsteps of a fennec been there in search of food
I had camped for the night close to a Libyan army checkpoint near the border with Chad, when strolling around I found this sinuous sand microduna finely chiselled by the wind on both sides; the raking light of the sunset highlighted the strange surface and thought that nature would not stop let me wonderful gifts
I was driving along a track in the warm afternoon of Algerian desert, when on the right I saw some fantastic micro-dunes with perfect geometry. I was fascinated by these two that seemed to me two waves in the act of getting away.
Inside this amazing canyon, the midday light penetrated perpendicularly and created effects similar to those I had experienced underwater, at the top the light was warm, but more deeply penetrated more was absorbed by the walls and it became more cold , the sandstone walls had incredible shades
Depending on the shape of the land, sometimes happens that during the rising of the sun, some zones are illuminated by reflected light, acquiring a softly velvety appearance which makes it well the nuances of the land. Here I captured one of those magic moments.
I was walking on a path to get a closer look of the Exit Glacier, the trail wound its way through the forest and at one point was interrupted by a small spring. The show was amazing, the water flowed very slowly and took a beautiful green color because of the reflection of the leaves of the forest above, the water looked like olive oil seemed thick, the stones were wet, color of the sky, a sunshine ray lit up the leaf stuck on the rock, was the final touch.
In this image is contained the essence of this magical canyon, the light coming from the top, as it descends deeply assumes tonalities increasingly colder, illuminating rocks finely shaped by water up to take on fantastic shapes
Everywhere you look in this wonderful little canyon, you will discover fantastic scenery, here it seems to be inside of a colorful rock labyrinth in which the colors and soft shapes assumed by the rocks create a fairytale landscape
This place is amazing, the light that penetrating from above can to illuminate the bottom of the canyon, bouncing off the shadow sides of the rocks, does assume to the shadows the same tones of the rocks: fantastic!
I was on the ridge of a very high dune in the desert of Murzuq , the sun had just risen, but already lit up the orange sand with a very warm light, when I realized that a shaft of light penetrated through the depression on the ridge, created a stain orange light on the shadowed side of the dune that had a particular color magenta
The water flow in addition to create these wonderful horizontal waves on the rocky walls of the canyon, has also created many holes, in this shot the light filtering from above that has managed to pass through these holes, created these “burns” on the walls of canyon
Walking along the canyon, I came across these two rocks that seemed on the verge of kissing, the anthropomorphic shape of the rock on the right inspired me and so I decided to compose the picture
I was stationed on the shore of a beautiful lake in the Canadian region of Saskatchewan, when suddenly the water under my eyes took on a wonderful golden color, the sun had lit an aspen grove in autumn dress and the reflected light on the water was amazing. Quickly I changed the framing and I was able to make 4 or 5 shots, one minute later the golden light faded
I was going to get out of the canyon, when I was struck by this composition, the light near the exit tinged with yellow sandstone, while where I was standing the red was predominant, seemed access to paradise
It is always amazing to see how the sand and the wind create fantastic shapes, here I was in the Hoggar Algerian and the previous evening I spotted this site near a rocky pinnacle. The sand had taken this particular form and the warm light of the morning has highlighted the different surface textures
Few people in the world are able to resist to gianduja chocolate,

I was in the Adrar Hanet in Algeria and one morning I was photographing a dune in front of a small lake, when I was struck by the special design of the mud around the lake, in addition to the tangle of cracks, I really liked the different colors that the mud had assumed following the retreat of the waters
In the same esplanade of the “minerals eels” there was also a small flock of little arcuate dunes on a sand slightly grayer and with a rougher surface, they really seemed dunes in formation flight.
The next morning I returned to the area where the previous afternoon I took the photo to the “eels” and went on a small hill where I took many photographs that wonderful white sand rippled by many microdune. One thing that I really enjoy is to take photographs that the viewer without a proper explanation can not normally understand, this gives a good idea.
