In our mountains there is an area full of small canyons in which flows streams, that day I was in Val di Piero when I saw some strange reflections on the water, the blue of the sky and orange of dried grass of the near mountain, were combined to create this image that in my head looks like a bird with its wings and tail explained. Some minutes later, changing the lens, it slipped into the water, putting an end to my day of shooting.

At the end of this strange little transparent iceberg, lying on the black beach of Jokulsarlon in Iceland, I saw the rainbow colors magically appear during a fleeting glimpse of the sun. Fixed gear, I adjusted the exposure and patiently awaited a new ray of sunshine, but when it came, coincided with the arrival of a more impetuous wave that in addition to get my feet wet, sent haywire the exposure that I had previously set, giving a special black appearance to the scene, but making it even clearer that small area of color that I decided to photograph.

I was in the Indian Reserve where there is one of the most beautiful canyons in the world, the place is great, because when it is noon, the light is able to penetrate deep through the narrow opening, illuminating with fantastic colors the sandstone of the walls. It seems to be underwater, the bottom of the canyon reaches only the cold light that tends to color of purple, while near the top the light colors the walls of yellow and orange. But the day I was staying there, there seemed to be a gathering of all Japanese photographers and photograph the canyon was really hard.

It ‘s fascinating to see how it behaves the mud when it dries, in this case I was in Morocco on a narrow track of the High Atlas and found this curious subject. One part was dried and was flaking and crumpling on itself, another part was cracked but it was still wet on the surface, the surface was irregular due to rain on mud already dried, in short, a world to discover.

A small spring blocked the way along the path to get the Exit Glacier, the water flowed slowly and created a strange design on small stones on its way, so as to make it look like oil, the color was blue and green due to reflections of the leaves and the sky that hung over the scene, a small leaf was placed on a wet rock: I remained a couple of hours to shoot this scene.

During the winter, in the month of December, the mountain streams have always interesting topics. The night before I had camped near a beautiful waterfall in the hope of being able to photograph the next morning,but when I got up it was raining and the sky was leaden.
Along the shores of the river, I found a loop in which the mud had been wonderfully modeled by the current and the water was milky. Striations, colors, and the modeling of mud fascinated me and despite the bad light, I managed to make beautiful photographs.

Years before I had the chance to admire the graveyard of dinosaurs in Algeria, where I was struck by a black fossil spine long about 5 meters sits on the sand. Here on the muddy bottom of a melting river of Myrdalsjokull glacier in Iceland, I felt the same emotion in front of this clear arc of mud on a background of dark silt.

This scene portrayed in Iceland, on the beach of Jokulsarlon littered with icebergs, struck me for two things: the first one because the erosion of the ice had produced a strange streaked and opaque surface in a large piece of ice otherwise perfectly transparent, the second because erosion had reproduced the shape of the symbol of spades in playing cards.

I was going through the bed of an ephemeral melting river of Myrdalsjokull glacier in Iceland.
At that time the river was not there, but the silt left on the bottom was still wet and had created fantastic shapes. Here I seemed to see a strange and slow small waterfall reproduced in the mud, that I happened to see many years before in Zion N.P. that is possible to see in my collection.

This picture, was taken in the afternoon of a partly cloudy day in the bottom of a dry oued; the plot of the cracks in the mud looks like the craquelure of a XIV century painting. The surface of the mud is a pale pink, but it is slightly reflective and in some areas you can see the light blue of the sky

This photo was taken in a very special place, I was on top of the volcano Waw an Namus in Libya, within the crater in addition to several lakes, there are some areas of white sand with volcanic lapilli above, that having a weight lower floaton the sand, the wind divides the sands of different weight and color forming these incredible landscapes that look like wood.

The trip was almost finished, I was on the way back, when the police stopped me to a barrage retiring passport, forcing me to spend the night near the barracks. Nearby were the offshoots of the Great Eastern Erg, with a wonderful orange sand, so I decided to take advantage of the forced stop to take some pictures, the show was sublime!

This was a particular area made up of a coarse sand of light color, furrowed by grooves of about 1 cm. There were several elegant small dunes of about 7-8 cm, which created some wonderful designs such as those shown here

Nature is amazing in creating beautiful compositions, here we see the sand accumulated on a smooth rocky terrain, which seems an Erg, with dunes and sebke seen from above, but the footprint of the fennec brings us back to reality and the proper size

It ‘s fascinating to see how it behaves the mud when it dries, in this case I was in Algeria on a narrow oued of the Adrar Hanet and found this curious subject. Looks like an eye, with lots of lashes; the mud was thin and very clear, and the sand below was orange: spectacular!

Anyone who has been in the desert know that during the stops that are made to rest after many hours of driving, sooner or later you start to look at the ground to try pebbles of different shapes and colors. This picture was taken during one of those stops, I was in an area of sandstone and I found this handful of multicolored pebbles lying on a bed of golden sand in a depression of amaranth sandstone: a show!

During a snack break, I was attracted by these 3 holes full of yellow sand in a background of brown sandstone: I gave the impression to see a surprised face
